Music Activities for Babies
Nov 11, 2020Does your baby smile when he hears a familiar song? Bounce along with upbeat music? “Sing” along with you using whatever vocalizations she can muster? Babies are wired to love music! I love how they can’t help but engage with it. As parents and caretakers, we can nurture this musicality from a super young age. Today’s video shares a few activities for you, to help you make music with your baby in a way that he or she will love and learn from.
The topic of steady beat comes up in our classical listening activity (moving our bodies to the 3rd movement of Vivaldi’s Autumn), as well as in the classic nursery rhyme “Hickory Dickory Dock”. We also share a less familiar but easy to learn song called “Golden Corn” which we love using as a tickle song.
Did you know we created a course just for babies? “Nursery Rhyme Baby Time” includes songs, activities, and lots of tips and ideas for you. You’ll find yourself enjoying musical bonding moments, lots of giggles, and even diving into classical music together. The videos feature Kathryn and her baby Ernest, who was about 16 months old at the time we filmed, but the activities are geared toward babies from 0 - 2.
