Staccato and Legato

Mar 09, 2022

In this video, Ms. Elizabeth introduces the concept of staccato and legato! We've created a simple free printable resource to accompany this video and Episode 9 or our podcast where we teach similar content.  Grab the free printable here!

How to prepare: Grab your “ribbon wand” or a scarf if you have one.

How to extend/adapt:

  • Do some staccato and legato art. Long paint brush strokes are great for legato, and dot markers are fun for staccato, but use your creativity with whatever materials you have.
  • Try singing some of your favorite songs with a legato and staccato style.

What your child is learning: Musical concept of staccato and legato, active listening, fine and gross motor skills.
