Let's Make Forte Sounds Together

Jan 30, 2022

Forte the Lion helps us learn about the musical concept of Forte.  We also practice keeping a steady beat while singing this song about a lion.

How to prepare for this activity: Grab a drum, or another loud noise-maker if you have it. If you don’t, that’s fine too, you can always clap your hands.

How to extend/adapt: Talk about “forte” in everyday life -- notice and label the “forte” moments during your day, such as the blender running or the sirens blaring by.

What your child is learning: Musical concept of “forte”, steady beat, gross motor skills

The melody comes straight from Saint-Saëns' "Royal March of the Lion" from Carnival of the Animals.

This video comes from our very first course and this is the course where Forte the Lion was introduced.  His character has evolved over time, and he's a lot louder and sillier now.

We are so excited to announce that Forte the Lion is co-hosting our Clap for Classics! Podcast with Ms. Elizabeth.

Tune into Episode 1 of the podcast to hear this activity, and a few others.  Forte's antics will have you and your little one giggling and learning together!  Click this link, or search for Clap for Classics! on Apple, Spotify, or Google.  We hope you'll subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss an episode and share it with your friends to help us spread the word!

In each episode of the podcast you can join Ms. Elizabeth and Forte the Lion while we sing, move our bodies, learn about great classical music and more! Toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners will love the engaging activities and parents will love the rich educational material found in each episode.
